Witkoff: The agreement on US terms means Iran will halt uranium enrichment

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that the new nuclear agreement, on US terms, would mean dismantling Iran's uranium enrichment program.

"There will be no deal with Iran unless it's a deal with US President Donald Trump ," Witkoff wrote on the X platform . "Any final agreement must lay the foundations for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East, and that means Iran must halt and dismantle its nuclear enrichment and nuclear weapons program."

He added, "It is essential for the entire world to reach a firm, fair, and lasting agreement, and that is what President Trump asked me to do."

It's worth noting that last Saturday, the Omani capital, Muscat, hosted indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States. The Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, while the American delegation was led by Witkoff. The talks focused on the nuclear issue and ways to ease tensions between the two countries.

On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that  the second round of negotiations with the United States will be held in the Sultanate of Oman  on April 19.

The Iranian ministry also confirmed, in a separate statement, that talks between representatives of Iran and the United States regarding a settlement to Tehran's nuclear program took place in a constructive atmosphere.
