Voeller extends contract as DFB sports director until 2028

Jakarta - German national team sports director Rudi Voeller has extended his contract until Euro 2028, the German Football Federation announced, as quoted from the federation's official website, Tuesday.

The 64-year-old's contract extension was made at the end of March, after Germany's 2-1 win over Italy qualified them for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals on March 21.

"The national team and the entire team together with the DFB have welcomed me very warmly. The enthusiasm for the Euro 2024 tournament on home soil, and all the collaboration with (coach) Julian Nagelsmann, have played a big role in this," Voeller was quoted as saying by AFP on Tuesday.

Voeller was appointed sporting director in February 2023 and he briefly served as interim national team coach following the sacking of Hansi Flick in September of that year.
