Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison President Director and CEO Vikram Sinha led the telecommunications service provider to transform into an AI Native TechCo that focuses on integrating AI into all aspects since the merger in 2022.
“I have to say, AI is real. I mean, countries and companies that are not at the forefront (of using AI) are going to be left behind,” Vikram said.
In an interview with Antara at the Google Cloud Next 2025 event , Vikram emphasized that AI will not replace the role of humans. This is what he implemented at Indosat. Vikram even emphasized the importance of the human side in a company as an investment.
He highlighted the AI implementation approach in his company by collaborating with Google Cloud and McKinsey. They use a platform-based approach, namely Vertex AI, and train the Indosat team, so that employees will become productivity agents and be helped to work better using AI.
“One of the things we monitor at Indosat is, how many of my employees have started adopting AI? How many of them are working on building AI-based products?” Vikram said.
“So by investing in people, we build scale properly,” he added.
Indosat is also the first company in the Asia Pacific region to adopt Google Agentspace to empower its employees with AI. The platform was recently launched and is the latest innovation from Google Cloud. According to Vikram, the work of thousands of his employees will be more efficient and impactful.
