Indonesia's leading male rock climber Veddriq Leonardo named three countries that will be Indonesia's strong opponents in the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup Bali 2025, May 2-4, namely China, the United States and Italy.
According to him, the three countries are inhabited by athletes who compete at elite levels.
"If we look at our toughest competitors from the countries, namely China, the United States, and Italy," said Veddriq on the sidelines of a training session at the national training camp (pelatnas) in Bekasi, West Java.
He explained that all athletes from each participating country, including Indonesia, have the same opportunity to become world champions, especially from those three.
"The three countries have many athletes who play at elite levels and have very thin time records to compete," said the 2024 Paris Olympics champion in the speed climbing category .
Veddriq added that each country has its own top athletes who have prepared themselves as well as possible, so the competition will be even tighter.
Plus other Asian countries are also much more developed, such as Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.
