However, Espanyol gave the first threat in this match through Exposito's shot which still hit the left post of Valencia's goal.
Espanyol managed to get the lead first in the 40th minute thanks to Javi Puado's free kick goal, changing the score to 1-0.
Entering the second half, Valencia took the initiative to attack first and was able to equalize in the 57th minute with a kick from Javi Guerra so that the score was again level at 1-1.
Valencia had a chance to turn things around through Jose Gaya's header in the box, but the ball was saved by Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
