More than 80 US legal organizations have published an open letter opposing the Trump administration's policy of pressuring lawyers and judges handling cases challenging his decisions.
"As organizations representing millions of Americans, we are deeply concerned by the sweeping actions taken by President Trump, his administration, and his allies in Congress to intimidate the judiciary, undermine the rule of law, and weaponize executive power," the letter, published by Axios, read.
In their letter, these organizations called on Congress, lawyers, and judges to defend the legal system.
The Washington Post previously reported that US law firms are trying to avoid participating in cases challenging the Trump administration's decisions, fearing prosecution by authorities.
Earlier, NBC, citing experts and former US Department of Justice employees, noted that Trump is increasing pressure on lawyers attempting to challenge his administration's decisions in court.
President Trump has directed Attorney General Pamela Bondi to recommend revoking security clearances or terminating federal contracts with law firms if she finds their allegations against the White House "frivolous" or "vexatious."
