The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that "the General Authority of Civil Affairs (the liaison with the Israeli side) informed the Ministry of Health of the martyrdom of the young man Muhammad Omar Muhammad Zakarneh (23 years old) and the young man Marouh Yasser Rateb Khazimiya (19 years old) by the occupation forces' bullets in the town of Qabatiya," and indicated that "the occupation forces detained the bodies of the two martyrs."
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by bulldozers, stormed the town of Qabatiya and surrounded a house, while other forces stormed a plot of land surrounding the town and surrounded a cave.
Eyewitnesses reported that forces fired live ammunition at the cave, and bulldozers demolished it and recovered the bodies of two Palestinians.
Storming Al-Aqsa
In a related development, hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday, the fourth day of the Jewish Passover holiday, which began Sunday and will continue for a week.
An official at the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, "683 settlers stormed the mosque this morning under Israeli police escort." He added, "An additional number of settlers are expected to storm the mosque after the noon prayer."
The official noted that "1,732 settlers stormed the mosque yesterday, Tuesday, 1,149 on Monday, and 494 on Sunday, the first day of Passover."
Right-wing Israeli groups have called for widespread raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque on the occasion of the week-long Jewish Passover holiday.
Eyewitnesses said that the raids included settlers performing Talmudic rituals and special prayers on the eastern side of the mosque.
Hebron closure
The Israeli occupation forces closed off the center of the city of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, on Wednesday, in preparation for a settler raid to coincide with the Jewish Passover holiday, according to a Palestinian activist.
Imad Abu Shamsiya, head of the Hebron Human Rights Defenders Association, said, "The (Israeli) occupation forces have closed off shops and stores in the center of Hebron and prevented residents from moving in order to protect the settlers who stormed the area on the occasion of the Jewish Passover holiday."
He pointed out that the measure "harms public life and commerce," considering it also "an opportunity for settlers to abuse Palestinians." He added that the Israeli occupation army has closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslims for the second day in a row and opened it to settlers, on the occasion of the same holiday.
Passover began last Sunday and will last for a week. It is considered one of the most important holidays for Jews.
The Ibrahimi Mosque is located in the Old City of Hebron, which is under Israeli control. It is home to approximately 400 settlers guarded by approximately 1,500 soldiers.
In 1994, Israel divided the Ibrahimi Mosque into 63% for Jews, including the call to prayer room, and 37% for Muslims, following a massacre committed by a Jewish settler that resulted in the deaths of 29 Palestinian worshippers.
After the mosque was divided based on a decision by an investigative committee formed by Israel at the time, it was decided to open it completely to Muslims for only 10 days a year: Fridays during Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the Night of Isra and Mi'raj, the Prophet's birthday, and the Islamic New Year. It was also decided to open it completely to Jews for 10 days, which are Jewish holidays and religious occasions.
