When working, sometimes hours pass while sitting in one place, eyes fixed on the screen, shoulders slumped, and the back slowly curved into a hunchback, this can harm the spine which can cause back pain.
Quoting the Hindustan Times report, on Saturday, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery and Spine, Fortis Hospital Mulund, Mumbai, Dr Vikas Gupte said poor posture while sitting, such as slouching or leaning forward, extending the neck, puts pressure on the core muscles and causes muscle weakness.
In the long term, this will lead to muscle reconditioning, muscle imbalance (some muscles will become overactive and some muscles will remain underactive), muscle fatigue, and discomfort when sitting for long periods of time. Poor posture will also lead to chronic lower back pain.
