The Israeli army announced on Friday that it would launch intensive operations in several neighborhoods in Gaza City, calling on residents to "evacuate immediately."
An Israeli military spokesman said that forces are "working to target Hamas infrastructure" in the Shujaiya, Turkman, and Eastern Zeitoun neighborhoods, and are expanding their influence. He stressed that operations "will continue with intensity in the coming hours."
The army warned residents of these areas of the "need for immediate evacuation" to safer areas west of the city, noting that "any delay in evacuation puts lives at risk." It also announced that safe corridors would be open only until 2:00 PM.
For their part, Palestinian medical sources reported a full alert in hospitals in anticipation of potential casualties, while human rights organizations called on the international community to "pressure to halt these operations that threaten the lives of civilians."
