The inaugural Air badminton World Cup was held in the United Arab Emirates


Jakarta - Air badminton will enter a new era with the inaugural BWF Air badminton World Cup in the United Arab Emirates on November 13-16, 2025.

"The World Cup is one of the Badminton World Federation's efforts to expand and develop the Air badminton ecosystem," said BWF in a statement on its official website, Tuesday.

Before the World Cup, BWF will first hold a continental tournament as a qualification event for the 2025 Air badminton World Cup.

Teams from Asia and Oceania will compete in the Asia Pacific Championships taking place in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the hosts for the other three championships are Peru (Pan America), Azerbaijan (Europe), and Ghana (Africa).

The qualifying tournament includes three events: team relay, women's triple, and men's triple.

A total of 12 teams will qualify for the 2025 Air badminton World Cup, consisting of the top three teams from the team relay events at the Asian and European Championships, the top two teams from Africa and Pan America, and the champion from Oceania, plus the host.

Teams that qualify through the team relay are also required to participate in the men's triple and women's triple events.

Regarding the match format at the 2025 Air badminton World Cup, BWF explained that it will compete in three main events: team relay, women's triples, and men's triples.
