The Egyptian Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces attended the Armed Forces Operations Authority's main research, titled "Egypt's Competitive Role in the Energy Sector," in the presence of Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; Engineer Karim Ibrahim Ali, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; and a number of Armed Forces commanders, public figures, and strategic experts.
Saqr praised the research topic, the efforts expended, and its importance in maximizing the benefits of diverse energy sources, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development goals.
The study addresses traditional and non-traditional sources of energy security based on modern scientific principles. It concludes by presenting a number of recommendations and proposed mechanisms for implementing Egypt's future vision of becoming a regional hub for safe and sustainable energy, according to a statement by the Egyptian military spokesman.
In his speech, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Operations, Major General Nabil Hasballah, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the General Command of the Armed Forces for all forms of support it provides to advance the level of research within the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Operations noted that the research activities take place amidst changing regional and international challenges, emphasizing the key role played by the Armed Forces in developing its capabilities to protect the pillars of Egyptian national security.
The energy sector in Egypt is a strategic focus of Egypt Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development and enhance regional competitiveness. Egypt is witnessing remarkable progress in exploiting traditional (such as oil and natural gas) and non-traditional (such as solar and wind) energy sources, thanks to major gas discoveries such as the Zohr field and renewable energy projects such as the Benban Solar Energy Complex in Aswan.
Egypt seeks to become a regional energy hub, leveraging its geographic location linking Africa, Asia, and Europe, and its advanced port and liquefied natural gas infrastructure.
The importance of the military research, which was praised by Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, stems from the Egyptian Armed Forces' commitment to keeping pace with regional and international challenges, particularly in light of geopolitical conflicts related to energy resources.
The Armed Forces, through its Operations Authority, contributes to supporting national security through strategic studies that enhance the state's ability to protect its resources and achieve self-sufficiency. This research also reflects the integration between military and civilian institutions, such as the Ministry of Petroleum, to achieve comprehensive development goals.
