The death toll in Gaza exceeds 51,000. UNRWA: A ceasefire must be immediately implemented.

The ministry said the death toll from the conflict since the occupation resumed its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on March 18 has risen to "1,864 martyrs and 4,890 wounded."

In its daily statistical statement, it explained that "39 martyrs and 62 wounded arrived at Gaza hospitals over the past 24 hours as a result of the ongoing Israeli genocide," noting that a number of victims remain under the rubble of destroyed homes and on the streets, where it is difficult for ambulance and civil defense crews to reach them.

Since dawn on Monday, the death toll from the conflict has risen to 10, including a Palestinian woman killed by a suicide drone explosion inside her tent. The attack, which targeted homes and tents of displaced people and civilian gatherings in various parts of the Gaza Strip, was a result of Israeli shelling, according to medical sources.

A medical source said, "Two Palestinians from the Al-Shaer family were martyred in an Israeli attack on a gathering of civilians in the Al-Manara neighborhood, south of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip."

Shortly before this, a Palestinian woman was killed and five others were injured when an Israeli drone exploded inside a tent housing displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, according to a medical source.

Earlier on Monday, five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Baraka family's home east of Khan Yunis, while two others were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a displacement camp in Al-Mawasi, west of the city.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli artillery shelled the Qizan Rashwan area in Khan Yunis, while army vehicles opened heavy fire east of the town of Abasan al-Jadida.

In the same context, the Israeli occupation army continued its bombing of residential buildings in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, according to witnesses.

In the central Gaza Strip, a fisherman was injured by Israeli gunfire west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, while artillery continued to shell areas north of the camp.

In Gaza City, Israeli artillery shelled the Zeitoun and Shuja'iyya neighborhoods, while army vehicles opened heavy fire on the eastern and southern areas.

In the northern Gaza Strip, artillery continued to shell various areas northwest of Beit Lahia and east of Jabalia.

UNRWA: The ceasefire must be immediate.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Monday that 600 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the resumption of the Israeli war on March 18, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The agency added in a statement that "since the collapse of the ceasefire on March 18, 600 children have been killed and more than 1,600 others injured in Gaza, according to data from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)."

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) noted in a statement issued on April 19 that 595 children and 308 women have been killed since the collapse of the ceasefire, stressing that women and children constituted the largest proportion of victims during this phase of escalation.

For its part, UNRWA warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached its "worst point" since the war began in October 2023, amid the continued closure of crossings and the prevention of the entry of food, medical, and relief aid since March 2.

In a related development, the Palestinian Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip confirmed on Monday that the Israeli occupation army committed "field executions" after a shooting incident that killed 15 paramedics in the Strip in March. The defense force rejected an investigation report published by the army on Sunday, which stated that "there was no evidence to support the allegations of executions."

"The video that emerged, filmed by a paramedic, proves the Israeli occupation's narrative is false, and that it carried out field executions," said Mohammed al-Mughayyir , director of medical supplies at the Civil Defense in Gaza .

Al-Mughayyir stressed that "what the occupation is saying is false, a circumvention of international legitimacy resolutions, and an escape from accountability and international prosecution for this grave crime."

Israel claims that Hamas members were in the ambulances that came under fire. An internal Israeli military investigation, the results of which were published Sunday, revealed "professional errors," "disobedience of orders," and "misunderstandings" among the soldiers involved in the incident. The army announced the dismissal of an officer who commanded the soldiers on the ground that day.

The incident occurred in southern Gaza on March 23, just days after the occupation resumed its airstrikes and ground and naval operations in the Palestinian enclave. Israeli forces opened fire on Civil Defense and Palestinian Red Crescent teams in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The incident sparked international condemnation and suspicions of a "war crime," according to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

Since March 18, Israel has intensified its genocidal crimes by launching violent, widespread airstrikes, most of which have targeted civilians in homes and tents housing displaced persons.

At the beginning of the same month, the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel, which took effect on January 19, 2025, was concluded, with Egyptian and Qatari mediation and American support.

While Hamas has adhered to the terms of the first phase, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, has reneged on the start of the second phase in deference to extremists in his ruling coalition, according to Hebrew media.
