Supply of materials for manufacturing iPhone 17 reportedly constrained

Apple is reportedly facing supply constraints on materials called low thermal expansion coefficient fiberglass cloth for the manufacture of the iPhone 17 series of products.

According to a Wall Street Insight China report quoted in the Phone Arena broadcast on Monday, based on information from the supply chain, the scarcity of material availability has disrupted production of the iPhone 17 series.

Low thermal expansion coefficient fiberglass cloth is used in smartphone components for heat dissipation and stress reduction on internal components that occurs due to temperature changes.

On the packaging substrate of Apple A-series chips or Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, this material acts as an insulating layer and a reinforcing layer that supports the multi-layer circuit structure to ensure a stable connection between the chip and the PCB.
