The earthquake devastated Sagaing City. Many buildings collapsed and tens of thousands of people were instantly left homeless.
We also see people living in despair amidst the stench of dead bodies and ruined buildings.
There are those who blame themselves for the loss of family members and friends, while others blame the military council.
"If we start early and help in time, we can save people's lives."
A man who lost many of his friends in the earthquake said that the military council did not provide timely relief after the earthquake.
"If we had helped in time, people's lives could have been saved. Now, we haven't helped in time. Without any mechanical or material help, many people have died unnecessarily. I believe that this is also due to the negligence and carelessness of the military council, which has resulted in many deaths."
The military council's figures indicate that around 500 people died in the earthquake in Sagaing City, but rescue workers and locals estimate that more than 1,000 people died.
There are many places where people died en masse, including monasteries, convents, mosques, and schools.
