Jakarta - Indonesian women's singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani admitted that she was satisfied with her game despite being eliminated in the first round of the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) after losing to the top seed from China, Wang Zhi Yi.
Putri surrendered in a three-game match with a score of 22-20, 16-21, 12-21 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, China, Wednesday.
"Overall, even though I lost, I am satisfied with my performance today. My determination to bring out all my abilities was achieved earlier," said Putri in a written statement after the match.
Putri said she had tried to implement the coach's instructions to play patiently and not lose points easily, especially by extending rallies to dampen the opponent's game.
"The coach's instructions were not to die easily, try to hold on with the rallies. I practiced it even though some were missed, but on many occasions Wang Zhi Yi was quite shaky too," he said.
However, Putri realized that she still needed to improve her consistency in clean play. She noted that of the five points that could have been achieved, only two were truly clean without any mistakes of her own.
"I have to be more consistent in playing clean. Now I can still get two clean points out of five points, the rest are dead. In my opinion, playing at a high level, playing safe is the main capital," he said.
