The organizer of the Indonesian League 1, namely PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), has responded to the Semen Padang club regarding the suggestion to assign a foreign referee.
Previously, Semen Padang management visited the PT LIB office in Jakarta to provide advice on the use of foreign referees in crucial matches in each week of Liga 1.
"Long ago, the PSSI General Chairman reminded us to always pay attention to crucial matches and assign competent referees. Including assigning foreign referees," said PT LIB President Director Ferry Paulus in an official statement, Tuesday.
Ferry said that his party openly accepted the suggestions given by Semen Padang management.
According to Ferry, his party has communicated to assign competent referees to lead the matches entering the crucial week because it will determine the champion team and the relegated team.
President Director of PT LIB Ferry Paulus emphasized that since the era of PSSI General Chairman Eric Thohir, professional football competitions in Indonesia have developed significantly, including in terms of implementation.
"The changes are very significant. Including in the organization of the BRI Liga 1 matches. We run everything professionally. In accordance with FIFA standards and regulations. And, we will maintain those standards until the end of this season's competition," said Ferry.
