The All Indonesia Football Association is currently working on reviving city/district level competitions to boost the competitiveness of domestic football.
"We are reactivating the union, starting to talk to constituents of all clubs in the regions," said PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir at the Bali United Training Center, Gianyar Regency, Bali, Friday.
If constituents in the regions agree, there will be a district/city level football competition or League 4 for a certain duration, for example four months.
The club that wins League 4 will move up to the provincial level competition for League 3.
"Later, the provincial level champions will compete in the national championship. This is called an amateur club that we used to have," he added.
In addition to increasing competitiveness and revitalizing regional football clubs, the regional level competition will enrich the existing competitions, namely the Soeratin Cup and the Pertiwi Cup.
Later, continued the Minister of SOEs, budgeting could come from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) because it has been regulated in central government regulations.
