The Indonesian Gymnastics Association is preparing eight athletes to undergo long-term national training camps leading up to the 2028 Olympics.
"We will conduct national athlete training until the Olympics, including before that for the SEA Games and Asian Games," said PB Persani General Chairperson Ita Yuliati Irawan to reporters in Jakarta, Monday.
Five of the eight gymnasts are male athletes, namely Abiyu Rafi, Agung Suci Tantio, M. Aprizal, Naufal Takdir Albar, and Satria Satria Tri Wira Yudha. While the other three are female athletes, namely Ameera Rahmajanni Hariadi, and Alarice Mallica Vilobianne.
He explained that the athletes were also projected to take part in the World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta in 2025.
Before the World Championships, he said, Persani will send athletes to undergo training camps in Japan.
Then, he took a competitive exam ( try out ) in South Korea to welcome the Asian Gymnastics Championships and in Hungary to welcome the World Gymnastics Championships.
