Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight fighter Patricio Pitbull lamented the lack of urgency he had in his debut which ended in defeat to Yair Rodriguez at UFC 314.
"Maybe because I spent so many years fighting five rounds (while in Bellator), I don't know if my sense of urgency took too long to activate," Patricio Pitbull said in a report on the MMA Fighting website monitored in Jakarta, Friday.
The Brazilian is a former Bellator fighter who had a record of 24 wins, six losses, with 14 wins by knockout (KO) in his three reigns as featherweight champion with the now-defunct promotion.
Patricio couldn't replicate the success of his long-awaited UFC debut, leaving Miami (where UFC 314 was held) feeling like he could have done better.
Pitbull admitted the fight was boring with a lack of action from both fighters in the early rounds, but Rodriguez ultimately deserved the win.
"It was my mistake not to start with a straight shot, but it's understandable because it can lead to mistakes. I don't like making mistakes. I want to hit the target when I shoot," he said.
He said, in the fight against Rodriguez, in general, he should have been able to do more, fight, hunt his opponent, but it was too late to say.
