Jakarta - Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has invested US$43 million in startup Adaptive Security, which focuses on cybersecurity from AI-based threats.
As reported by Tech Crunch on Friday, the investment made through the OpenAI Startup Fund and Andreessen Horowitz is the first investment in a cybersecurity company.
Adaptive Security takes a unique approach by simulating AI-based attacks to train users to recognize such threats.
For example, a user might receive a phone call from someone who sounds like the company’s CTO asking for a verification code. However, the voice is not from the actual CTO, but rather one that Adaptive Security has faked using AI.
The platform is not only limited to phone calls, but also includes text messages and emails, as well as analyzing the most vulnerable areas in a company and training staff to be more aware of those risks.
Adaptive Security's main focus is on social engineering attacks , where hackers try to convince their victims to do something they shouldn't, such as clicking on a malicious link.
