Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stressed that relations between Russia and China could further strengthen amid global trade challenges.
Rudenko explained to TASS that bilateral cooperation encompasses multiple areas that are difficult to limit to a single domain: "Despite the diversity of areas of cooperation, we will reach another record level in the volume of trade between us."
It's worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at the end of last January, during a phone call with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, that trade between the two countries would grow by 7% during the first eleven months of 2024, reaching between $220 and $245 billion.
Putin noted that China remains Russia's main trading partner, while Russia ranks fifth among China's trading partners.
According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs of China, trade between the two countries grew by 1.9% during the entire year of 2024, reaching a new record of $244.81 billion.
China's imports from Russia over the past 12 months reached $129.32 billion, while China's exports to Russia rose 4.1% to $115.49 billion.
