The Ministry of Communication and Digital suggested that the Draft Law on Statistics currently being discussed by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) be harmonized with Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection.
The suggestion was conveyed by the Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Alexander Sabar, in a plenary meeting of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) with the Government, which was broadcast live on the DPR RI Baleg YouTube, Wednesday.
"Harmonization needs to be done (between the Statistics Bill and the PDP Law) because statistical data processing could involve personal data of the public that is collected and processed. Therefore, we link it to the Personal Data Protection regulation," said Alex in the meeting.
In his presentation, Alex referred to the meaning of statistics, namely collecting, processing, presenting, and analyzing data as a system that regulates the relationship between elements in its implementation.
