Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that Minang culinary specialties from West Sumatra are worthy of representing Indonesian cuisine on the international stage.
He quoted the statement from a discussion with culinary experts and organizations, including Chef Ragil to William Wongso. According to Fadli, culinary is one part of the cultural identity that is inseparable from the Minang people.
"It's actually amazing what the Cultural Advancement Object (OPK) can do. There are so many OPKs, there are 10, including local culinary and others. Culture is not just art. Art is only one element of culture," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
He conveyed this when attending the Cultural Gathering of the Minang Family Association (IKM) and Halal Bihalal with IKM administrators and members throughout Indonesia.
