Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid asked parents to follow Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection related to providing children with access to social media.
According to him, for minors, it is better for parents to postpone providing access to social media and it is better to prioritize providing digital literacy to their children so that when the time comes, children can be wise in surfing the digital space.
"Let's keep our children literate, but at the same time, postpone their access to social media according to the level of risk that we will evaluate," said Meutya in a discussion entitled "Like, Share, Protect Our Children in the Digital World" at IDN Media HQ.
