Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman is targeting an exponential increase in corn production in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province as an effort to strengthen domestic production and achieve national food self-sufficiency.
"We want an exponential leap, an extraordinary leap under the big idea or priority scale of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. We are just operators, then farmers move extraordinarily," said Minister of Agriculture Amran during the corn harvest in Penyaring Village, North Moyo District, Sumbawa Regency, NTB, Monday.
He said that based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the estimated corn harvest area in West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2025 is 105,287 hectares with an estimated KA14 percent corn production (14 percent water content) of 742,912 tons.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the central government, in this case the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), continues to provide support for infrastructure to accelerate corn production in NTB.
"We dream of NTB becoming a food barn, especially for corn and rice. This is our dream and we will be ready to support it. All production facilities, especially fertilizers, are well-fulfilled," said the Minister of Agriculture as confirmed in Jakarta, Monday.
Minister of Agriculture Amran also encouraged the implementation of agricultural modernization to help the planting and harvesting process efficiently.
