Jakarta - The Presidential Staff Office stated that the government has anticipated early on the United States' reciprocal tariff policy towards Indonesia of 32 percent from the base tariff of 10 percent applied to all countries.
"Basically, we have actually been anticipating and mitigating since (early), because Trump's policy is not something that suddenly happened in a matter of days," said Acting Deputy II of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Edy Priyono at the Coordination Meeting in the context of Maintaining the Stability of Food Supply and Prices Post-Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah which was held online by Bapanas, in Jakarta, Thursday.
Edy conveyed this when the media crew asked for a response to US President Donald Trump's policy of imposing new base tariffs and import duties on many trading partners, including Indonesia which was hit by a reciprocal tariff of 32 percent.
"Previously, we already knew that it was going in that direction. What we just found out is that the tariff, our reciprocal is 64 percent, after the discount it becomes half, 32 percent," he said.
