Kaspersky Lab experts have announced the discovery of a new virus that is spreading among Android phones.
According to experts, the virus is a modified version of the Triada Trojan virus that spread years ago. What's dangerous about it is that it can hide within the phone's system without the user showing any signs of its presence, and it can access a lot of the phone's software and data.
Experts confirmed that it is capable of stealing personal data stored on the phone and can access users' accounts on various services, including Telegram. Additionally, it can send messages from certain apps without the user's permission, swap numbers during calls, monitor user activity on the phone, and even steal cryptocurrency.
According to the latest data, in March 2025, more than 2,600 users in several countries were affected by the modified version of Triada, and analysts say that between June 2024 and March 2025, attackers were able to transfer nearly $270,000 worth of cryptocurrency using the virus.
To avoid the risk of such viruses, technology experts advise checking the software of any new phone upon purchase, avoiding downloading any unknown applications from online app stores, and avoiding opening any suspicious links sent to the phone via messaging services or communication apps.
