Surabaya - KAI Commuter recorded a significant spike in the number of passengers on the Surabaya Local Commuter Line service during Lebaran 2025 or Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah.
"This spike reflects the high enthusiasm of the public to use this transportation as a mode of travel during the Lebaran homecoming flow," said VP (Vice President) Corporate Secretary KAI Commuter Joni Martinus in a statement received in Surabaya, Tuesday.
Based on the data collected, the total number of users of the Surabaya Local Commuter Line service during the 2025 Eid Transportation period which took place from March 21 to April 1, 2025 reached 490,745 people.
On Monday (31/3), the user volume reached 46,657 people or increased by 35 percent compared to the previous day which was recorded at 34,654 people.
Several routes experienced the highest spike in passengers, including the Sindro Commuter Line (Surabaya–Sidoarjo), Dhoho Commuter Line (Surabaya–Mojokerto–Blitar), and Tumapel Commuter Line (Surabaya–Malang).
These routes are the main choice for people returning to their homes or visiting relatives after Eid.
