A total of 24 Indonesian female soccer players selected from eight cities in the country have begun training camps in Kudus Regency, Central Java, in preparation for participating in the Junior Soccer School and League (JSSL) event in Singapore.
"The dozens of players consist of U-12 and U-14 players. They are undergoing training camp at Supersoccer Arena Kudus from April 6-14, 2025," said Women's Football Coach Timo Scheunemann in Kudus, Friday.
The training programs provided range from running, bouncing balls, passing, overlapping, one-two, stretching, ice bath, free kicks, to knowledge about the match system.
The two teams, he said, also competed with the men's team to hone the mentality and improve the acceleration of the players.
"This kind of training is necessary so that players know their duties when on the field. Before the last training, there will also be a triangle training or like a trophy match with the U-11 boys team. The training time is very short, and this is a challenge to train two teams at once before leaving for Singapore. The last training is Monday (14/4) and leaving for Singapore the next day," he said.
As the Head Coach of MilkLife Shakers and HydroPlus Strikers, Timo is assisted by a team of coaches, namely Asep Sunarya as Head Coach Assistant, Maya Susmita as Assistant Coach U-12, Yayat Hidayat who is Assistant Coach U-14, and Edi Supriyanto as Team Manager.
He admitted that he had to mix two teams at once to the maximum, and combine all the players with the best positions to create the best composition in each team. Although it was their first time playing in an international tournament, they would apply an attacking formation.
At the JSSL Singapore 7's 2025, which is predicted to be the biggest tournament in Asia, Timo emphasized that there is no target burden, because the athletes can play as well as possible and enjoy the match.
"We also want to know how good the talents are for their future projections. We want to know what their strengths are, and whether their quality can be relied on for future seeds. So the burden is not winning or being champions, but the burden is how to make them big stars," said Timo who has a UEFA A coaching license in Germany in 2007.
One of the players, Amanda Fitriani, admitted that she was ready to perform well and give her best in Singapore later.
