Jakarta - Those whose sleep patterns change during the Eid holiday need to restore their sleep habits towards the end of the holiday, before returning to their work or school routines.
Sleep health specialist Andreas Prasadja, when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Monday, said that restoring sleep patterns should be done gradually.
"So, do it slowly and take it easy," said Dr. Andreas Prasadja, RPSGT, who practices at the Mitra Keluarga Kemayoran Sleep Disorders Clinic, Jakarta.
Restoring sleep patterns should be done gradually to prevent the emergence of feelings of tension, which can cause difficulty sleeping.
"To restore it is actually not too difficult, just like normal, what time do you sleep, usually at 21.00 for example, during Ramadan you sleep at 22.00, just restore it little by little," said Doctor Andreas.
"Actually, it's the same as jet lag , a one-hour difference in sleep time will take one day. One day to return to the normal pattern. So, if there is a three-hour difference, it will take three days, if there is a six-hour difference, it will take six days," he explained.
He added that people trying to restore sleep patterns should avoid caffeinated foods and drinks, which can cause sleep disturbances.
