A Hamas official told Agence France-Presse that the movement is prepared to release all Israeli detainees in exchange for a ceasefire and withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
The movement's official added on Monday that Israel "continues to obstruct the ceasefire agreement and shirk its commitments," noting that Hamas has assured mediators of "the need for guarantees to compel the occupation to implement the agreement."
He explained, "We dealt positively and with great flexibility with the ideas presented in the negotiations for a ceasefire and the exchange of Israeli prisoners and detainees."
He said that Israel wants to release its detainees without moving to the second phase issues related to a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal from Gaza.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the United States was close to returning Israeli prisoners in Gaza and was communicating with both Israel and Hamas.
US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, informed the families of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza that a "comprehensive and serious deal" for the release of the prisoners was on the horizon , and that the matter was now a matter of "a few days."
Israel's Kan radio also revealed that draft documents were exchanged between Israel and Egypt regarding a possible ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
