Solar energy has made a quantum leap in Germany, with industry statistics showing that the number of systems in the country has surpassed the five million mark.
The Federal Network Agency announced that approximately 5.5 million solar energy systems had been registered as of Friday.
The German Solar Energy Association described this achievement as "a milestone in the energy transition."
"No other form of electricity generation is so popular among the population," said association president Carsten Körnsch.
According to the Federal Network Agency, the majority of these systems—an estimated 4.1 million—are installed on roofs, facades, buildings, and similar structures.
Solar energy systems on balconies rank second with 870,000 systems, and more than half a million have been added since the beginning of 2024.
There are currently 19,000 systems installed on the ground, in addition to some systems in large parking lots and water bodies.
