Four ministers in Netanyahu's government call for "official annexation of the West Bank" during the opening of a settlement neighborhood.

The official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that during the opening, a number of senior ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu's government called for imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.

These ministers are Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, Settlement Minister Orit Struck, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Negev and Galilee Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf.

The four ministers and other leaders called for imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and strengthening settlements there, according to the commission.

Katz considered that "the settlements are Israel's line of defense."

He added that Israel would continue to strike what he claimed was "terrorism in northern Samaria (the biblical name for the West Bank)."

The Broadcasting Authority did not immediately report the ministers' statements regarding the annexation of the occupied West Bank.

Since the start of the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli officials, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have declared their rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state and their intention to formally annex the West Bank.

In parallel with the genocide, Israel is intensifying its crimes to annex the West Bank, particularly through expanding and accelerating settlements and displacing Palestinians from their lands, particularly under the pressure of ongoing military aggression in the northern West Bank since last January.

The Palestinian Authority warns that Israel's annexation of the occupied West Bank would officially mean the end of the possibility of implementing the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).

The Israeli occupation army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 2023, resulting in the deaths of at least 954 Palestinians, the injury of nearly 7,000, and the arrest of 16,400, according to Palestinian data.
