PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir said he would accelerate the recruitment of a Technical Director for the sake of the sustainability of Indonesian football achievements.
"After Jordi Cruyff was appointed as a technical advisor, we immediately appointed the Director of Technology to formulate a sustainable achievement coaching program. Cruyff already had a map after he was contracted and worked. And it is ready to be discussed further with the PSSI Director of Technology," said Erick, quoted from a written statement received by reporters, Friday.
The position of Technical Director (Dirtek) of PSSI was occupied by Indra Sjafri from February 2020 to May 2023. After that he was assigned to train the U-20 national team, and his position was filled by Frank Wormouth. Wormouth only occupied that position for six months, namely until December 2023.
In 2025, the national age group teams have a very busy schedule. The U-17 national team will compete in the U-17 World Cup in Qatar in November. In addition, the U-23 national team will also undergo the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualification which is scheduled to take place in September.
The U-23 national team will also undergo preparations for the AFF U-23 Cup in August, and compete in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand in December.
