During his reception of the Algerian Foreign Minister, the Tunisian President stressed the need for unified visions and positions between the two countries

During his meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, who is visiting as a special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Tunisian President Kais Saied stressed the need to unify visions and positions between the two countries in the current circumstances.

President Kais Saied affirmed Tunisia's firm belief in a shared destiny with Algeria and its unwavering resolve to further intensify consultation and coordination, and to unify visions and positions on regional and international issues, especially in light of the current circumstances facing the region and the world, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.

The Tunisian president pointed out his country's commitment to strengthening the sincere and strong bonds of brotherhood between the two countries in various fields, including developing border areas, enhancing trade and economic exchange, promoting investment, and combating smuggling and irregular migration, all in accordance with a shared vision for a better future for both peoples.

He stated that Attaf's visit, in his capacity as a special envoy of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which coincides with Tunisia's celebration of Martyrs' Day, once again reflects the shared history, present, and future of the two countries.

Addressing the evolving situation in Palestine, Kais Saied reiterated Tunisia's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's efforts to regain their full rights and establish an independent state on all of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to a video posted by the Presidency of the Republic on its official Facebook page, Ahmed Attaf stated that this visit falls within the framework of efforts to consolidate the tradition of consultation and coordination between Tunisia and Algeria.

Attaf stressed that coordination between the two countries has never ceased because Tunisia and Algeria are in the same trench.

The Algerian minister spoke about the deteriorating situation on the African continent, saying it is "worrying in all security, political, and economic aspects," noting that the greatest evidence of this is the conflicts and wars that have begun to dominate the continental landscape, particularly in the Sahel-Sahara region.

He stressed in this context that "Tunisian-Algerian coordination is no longer only necessary, but rather inevitable, in light of these circumstances."

He also explained that the regional and international situation "does not bode well at all," as the world is witnessing "a worrying decline and growing disregard for the most basic international principles and laws," including the role of international organizations, led by the United Nations. He considered that the Palestinian issue is currently witnessing the most dangerous phase in its history, as the challenge it faces has become an existential one par excellence, amid a frenzied race to eliminate the issue instead of seeking a solution to it.
