Dewa United continues to closely follow Persib in the Indonesian League 1 standings after defeating PSS Sleman 1-0 in the 29th week at Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Wednesday, thanks to Alexis Messidoro's only goal.
Dewa United now have 53 points from 29 matches to occupy second place or five points below Persib in first place.
On the other hand, PSS Sleman remains at the bottom with 22 points from 29 matches, or four points below the safe zone.
PSS created more chances with 17 chances, five of which were on target, while Dewa United had 53 percent possession.
PSS immediately pressed until they had a chance from Vico Duarte's shot which was blocked by goalkeeper Sonny Stevens.
Vico had another golden opportunity to bring PSS ahead, but his shot hit Dewa's goal post.
