Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Aminuddin Ma'ruf assessed that the United States President's reciprocal tariff policy is an important momentum for Indonesia to revitalize the national industry and optimize domestic potential strengths.
Aminuddin, met on the sidelines of the 2025 BUMN Dharma Santi Peak in Jakarta, Sunday, said that US President Donald Trump's policies could be a challenge for Indonesia to accelerate industrial transformation and increase the competitiveness of BUMN in the global market more aggressively and measurably.
"The challenge for us is the momentum for us to revitalize the industry, I think that's it," said Aminuddin.
However, Aminuddin did not provide further explanation regarding the direct impact of the US President's tariff policy on State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) but emphasized the importance of building a strong and independent industry through revitalization.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his message to US President Donald Trump after the US imposed a reciprocal import tariff of 32 percent on Indonesia and a 10 percent import tariff on all countries.
In an interview session with seven senior journalists at Prabowo's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, Sunday (6/4), as quoted from a TVRI broadcast in Jakarta, Tuesday, the President emphasized that Indonesia and the US have a long-standing close relationship so that Indonesia hopes for good treatment from the US regarding the tariff policy.
