Jakarta - Arsenal player Declan Rice is determined to lead his team to win the Champions League for the first time after being the star of the 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals at the Emirates Stadium, Wednesday WIB.
Rice was the star of the show after ripping Thibaut Courtois's net with two beautiful free-kicks in the second half. After Rice's brace, the Gunners sealed victory through Mikel Merino.
"I'm not going to get carried away now because there's another game to go. The Bernabeu, what it's like to play there. We have to be ready," Rice was quoted as saying by AFP on Wednesday.
"We want to win this competition. However, we have to take it one game at a time," he continued.
Regarding his two free kicks, Rice admitted that it had been planned for years. For Rice, it was extraordinary because the goal was his first goal that came from a free kick.
"It was in the cupboard but I was hitting the wall too often or going over the crossbar," said the former West Ham United player.
"We were going to go through it, then I saw the wall and the goalkeeper's position. So I thought, just go for it," he added.
