Community events - local "study tours" seen as boosting hotel occupancy

The Ministry of Tourism stated that interesting events organized by communities and study tours conducted locally are considered to be able to increase the hotel occupancy trend which was previously reported to be declining.

"We have met with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) team and the position is the same, we have to sell something," said Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the Ministry of Tourism Martini M. Paham in the UN Tourism 37th CAP-CSA press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Responding to the problem of declining hotel occupancy during the last Eid holiday period, Martini emphasized that both the government and stakeholders need to think more complexly and find new target markets.

Because the tourism sector cannot only rely on visits or government activities in the regions. Moreover, the government is currently implementing a budget efficiency policy for Ministries/Institutions (K/L).
