After six weeks of a comprehensive Israeli blockade, food supplies are running out in Gaza

Almost all food stockpiled during the ceasefire at the beginning of the year has run out, six weeks after Israel cut off all supplies to the Gaza Strip's 2.3 million residents.

Aid agencies that had been providing emergency meals said they would have to stop within days unless they could bring in more food.

The World Food Programme (WFP) used to provide bread supplies to 25 bakeries in the Gaza Strip, but all of these bakeries are now closed, and the organization will soon be forced to stop distributing food packages with reduced rations.

Gaza City municipality spokesman Hosni Muhanna reported Wednesday that Gaza City is suffering from a water crisis after the Mekorot water pipeline, which supplies 70% of the city's needs, was shut down. He pointed out that Israel caused the Mekorot water company to cut off its main water supply line, located in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City, where the army is conducting a military operation that began on Thursday.
