FBI Director Kash Patel made a surprise visit to Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin's locker room after his historic game against the New York Islanders.
After breaking his record, the FBI Director visits Ovechkin.
The visit came after the 39-year-old Russian broke the previous record for most goals in NHL history, which had stood for decades and was held by Canadian-American legend Wayne Gretzky. Ovechkin needed 1,487 games to achieve the feat.
Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal during his team's match against the New York Islanders on Sunday, which ended in a 4-1 loss for the Washington Capitals.
Patel expressed his admiration for the Russian player's performance, describing the on-ice event as "a fantastic event." Canadian legend Gretzky, the previous record holder, also entered the locker room.
Gretzky noted that it is unlikely that any other player in NHL history will be able to break Ovechkin's record.
The Russian player received hundreds of messages and congratulations from international sports and movie stars, including Danny DeVito, Snoop Dogg, American basketball legend Michael Jordan, and other celebrities who sent messages of support and admiration.
