The Follow-up Committee of National and Islamic Forces (which includes Palestinian factions) said in a statement published by Hamas on Telegram: "We have followed the news about the new ceasefire proposal, which includes a clause to disarm the resistance and hand over Zionist prisoners to the occupation without any real guarantees to end the war of extermination against our people and to withdraw completely from the Gaza Strip."
She added: "We reject the logic that exaggerates the primitive weapon of the 'victim', intended only for self-defense, at a time when the United States announces the delivery of a large batch of lethal weapons and heavy bombs to the 'murderous' occupation, which are being dropped on the heads of our defenseless people."
She continued: "The Gaza Strip represents a security zone for the Arab Republic of Egypt, separating it from the enemy of the Arab nation. The people of the Strip represent the vanguard of the Egyptian army and its primary protector. Egypt also represents strategic depth for the Palestinians."
She pointed out that "any truce that lacks real guarantees for an end to the war, a complete withdrawal, the lifting of the siege, and reconstruction will be a political trap that perpetuates the occupation rather than resisting it. Mediators and the international community must exert pressure on the Zionist occupation, which is historically known for its reneging on all agreements and understandings."
She pointed out that "a massive deception operation is taking place by focusing on the issue of disarming the victim, while the core of the problem lies in the occupation's evasion of implementing the three-stage agreement that the Palestinian side agreed to and committed to."
She added, "The Zionist community itself realizes that Netanyahu is the one who thwarted the ceasefire agreement, amid deadly international complicity and silence."
On Monday, Hamas announced that it was studying a proposal it received from mediators regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip.
The movement said in a statement: "The movement's leadership is studying, with great national responsibility, the proposal it received from the mediating brothers (Egypt and Qatar), and will submit its response to it as soon as possible, once the necessary consultations are completed."
She added, "We affirm our firm position that any future agreement must achieve a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, a genuine prisoner exchange deal, the beginning of a serious process to rebuild what the occupation has destroyed, and the lifting of the unjust siege on our people."
In January 2025, Egypt, along with Qatar and the United States, reached an agreement between Israel and Hamas stipulating a phased ceasefire in Gaza. Tel Aviv violated the agreement and unilaterally declared the resumption of the war last March.
Netanyahu, who is wanted by international justice, reneged on the second phase of the agreement and resumed the genocide in Gaza on March 18, in deference to the most extreme faction within his right-wing government, according to Hebrew media.
