A general strike in the West Bank in protest against the Israeli war on Gaza

The West Bank governorates are witnessing a general strike today, Monday, in condemnation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and demanding an end to the massacres and bombing of civilians' homes, hospitals, and shelters.

Palestinian national and Islamic forces called for this strike yesterday, Sunday, in all governorates, coinciding with a global movement in support of the Palestinian cause. This has led to a complete paralysis in all aspects of life.

Schools, universities, and public and private institutions announced a holiday today, and shops closed their doors in response to the strike call.

The strike included public transportation between governorates, leaving the streets empty of vehicles and pedestrians, and factories and workshops closed.

For its part, Hamas called for participation in the general strike and angry marches in rejection of the Israeli war on Gaza and in support of the resistance.

"With the ongoing crimes, genocide, and ethnic cleansing of our people in Gaza, and the aggression, abuse, and Judaization perpetrated by the occupation and its settlers in the West Bank, we have no choice but to rise up against the occupation and ignite all points of contact," movement leader Abdel Rahman Shadid said in a statement.

Shadid added, "All our people in the West Bank must fulfill their crucial and important national role, especially in light of the horrific massacres and brutal crimes being perpetrated against their brothers in the Gaza Strip."

Activists on social media platforms have called for a general strike around the world in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip in the face of the Israeli war.

Activists said they launched a campaign to push for a global strike, with the aim of pressuring governments to take serious action to halt Israel's ongoing massacres and genocide.

A march was held in the center of Ramallah Governorate, north of the West Bank, denouncing the Israeli massacres in the Gaza Strip.
