Tunisian veterinarian Anas Trabelsi revealed the dangers of the black widow spider, which a citizen found in his bedroom in the Riadh neighborhood (Sousse Governorate, eastern Tunisia).
During a phone call with the "Cappuccino" program on Jawhara FM radio on Wednesday, Trabelsi said, "The animal is a member of the poisonous spider family called the 'black widow.'"
The veterinarian confirmed that a black widow bite causes severe pain in the affected area, nervous and muscle spasms, and stomach pain.
Al-Tarabulsi called for caution and to head to the nearest hospital if bitten.
He stressed that "this type of spider is not widespread in Sousse and rarely appears," calling for "not over-dramatizing the situation."
