Workers' strategies for managing THR use to meet needs

Jakarta - Ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri holiday, workers generally receive holiday allowances or THR from their employers.

Workers usually use most of their THR money for Eid needs, such as buying homecoming tickets, buying new food and clothes, buying souvenirs for family in the village, and giving money to relatives and friends.

However, the current sluggish economic conditions have made some workers more careful in managing the use of THR money.

"Of course I am more careful when shopping and trying to save more income as emergency savings," said Cicin Yulianti (24) to ANTARA on Friday.

Cicin, who works as a journalist in Jakarta, sets aside 40 percent of her THR money to save, uses the other 30 percent to meet her needs during Eid, and allocates the rest for unexpected needs.
