Rosan: Downstream and renewable energy are investment focus sectors

Jakarta - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and CEO of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani stated that downstreaming and new renewable energy are sectors that the government is focusing on in meeting the investment target of IDR 13,032 trillion in the next five years.

During the 2025-2029 period, the government is targeting an investment value of IDR 13,032 trillion, as an effort to support the achievement of 8 percent economic growth.

"One of the strategies to achieve this target is through industrial downstreaming which contributes 23 to 24 percent of total investment, both through domestic investment (PMDN) and foreign direct investment (FDI)," said Rosan in Economic Insight 2025 at the BEI Main Hall, Jakarta, Friday.

"Not only limited to the mineral sector, downstreaming will also be expanded to the agriculture, fisheries and plantation sectors to create greater added value for the national economy," said Rosan.

He said the government is targeting net zero emissions by 2060, while currently the installed capacity of new renewable energy in Indonesia is still at 14.43 gigawatts (GW), or far from the potential of 3,700 gigawatts (GW).
