Psychologists recommend holistic approach to mental health issues

Jakarta - Psychologist who graduated from the University of Indonesia (UI), Nurul Adiningtyas, MPsi, expressed the importance of a more holistic or comprehensive approach in dealing with mental health problems.

Nurul emphasized the need to recognize triggers that can worsen a person's mental condition, especially for those who have been diagnosed with a mental disorder.

"The first thing to note is to recognize triggers that can stimulate excessive emotional reactions, such as anxiety, stress, or depression. For example, some people feel anxious or depressed when they see other people angry," Nurul said in a webinar monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Once a person knows the triggers, he suggests that individuals experiencing mental health issues try to avoid or cope with those triggers in an appropriate manner.
