Potential oil reserves of 400 million barrels in the West Natuna Block






Batam - The Indonesian House of Representatives Commission XII with the scope of duties in the fields of energy and mineral resources, environment, and investment, through a Specific Working Visit to Batam, Riau Islands , revealed that the West Natuna Block has potential oil reserves of up to 400 million barrels.

Chairman of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bambang Patijaya, explained that the East Block Natuna is currently still in the exploration stage, but has great oil potential.

"The oil reserves in West Natuna are quite significant, while there is also gas, but according to the presentation we received from stakeholders earlier, oil is more dominant. We encourage the development of this block to support national energy independence," he said in Batam, Friday.

This oil and gas block is located east of Natuna and directly borders the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the South China Sea.

Currently, exploration is being carried out by Pertamina Persero which continues to conduct further studies on the oil and gas potential in the region.
