Jakarta - Central Jakarta Metro Police have arrested a number of motorcycle gang members involved in the assault and robbery of valuables belonging to three victims.
"The victims were beaten until they had bruises all over their bodies. One perpetrator also took the victim's motorbike and cellphone," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Sr. Comr. Pol. Susatyo Purnomo Condro in a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to him, the abuse carried out by a number of motorbike gang members started when the three victims, namely AMF (18), EFM (17), and MAP (18), were on their way to buy jackets in the Sunter area, North Jakarta.
Unfortunately for the three of them, while they were in the middle of the road, said Susatyo, they were suddenly stopped by around 30 teenagers who immediately attacked them brutally.
The action carried out by the motorcycle gang took place on Jalan Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, where in the incident, three teenagers became victims of a mob attack before their motorbike was confiscated.
"Six perpetrators have been arrested, and we are still hunting for other perpetrators," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Muhammad Firdaus, added that the assault case was revealed after a report from residents, and at that time a perpetrator with the initials MFR (17) was successfully secured at the scene by members of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Samapta Unit.
"From the statement of one perpetrator, we then arrested the other perpetrators, namely D (17), OF (17), AA (18), ANM (19), and RAH (18). They were secured in various different locations," he said.
From the results of his further investigation, MFR and D are suspected of being the main perpetrators who carried out the assault. Meanwhile, OF played a role in giving MFR a ride, while AA, ANM, and RAH were known to have joined the convoy before the action took place.
