PMI Makassar anticipates blood stock shortages during Ramadan 2025



Makassar - The Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit of Makassar City, South Sulawesi, has deployed volunteers from the local PMI Community-Based Disaster Preparedness Team to anticipate blood stock shortages during Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025 AD.

"I think during the last three years of Ramadhan, Alhamdulillah, the readiness of PMI sub-district donor volunteers and the readiness of donor volunteers with PMI Sibat sub-district has been very helpful," said Deputy Chairperson of PMI Makassar City UTD Khudri Arsyad in Makassar, Saturday.

He said, Sibat is now in all sub-districts, as are the sub-district PMI which has sent blood donation schedules to mosques in their respective areas.

Regarding the need for blood in Makassar City, he continued, the average is 200 to 350 blood bags per day, while 54 hospitals in Makassar City are referral hospitals, so they also serve patients outside Makassar City who also need blood to treat certain patients.
